Elon Musk, the famous businessman and entrepreneur, is not only known for his work in the tech and space industries, but also for his love of video games. In a recent interview with YouTuber Lex Fridman, Musk revealed that he was once considered “one of the best players in the world” in the popular shooter game Quake, developed by John Romero.
Despite being 52 years old and acknowledging that his reflexes are not what they used to be, Musk shared that he has been playing video games his whole life. He even mentioned that he won money in one of the first paid esports tournaments in the United States, where he and his team came in second place in a four-person Quake tournament.
Musk also explained that they would have been in first place, but the PC of the best person on the team crashed in the middle of the game, causing them to lose the lead. Despite this setback, Musk still made money from the tournament.
For those who are interested in playing Quake, the game is available for a low price on various platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Additionally, a remastered version of Quake II has also been released this year, with both remasters costing 9.99 euros.
So, if you want to follow in Elon Musk’s footsteps and become a Quake player, you can do so without breaking the bank. Who knows, you might even become one of the best players in the world, just like Musk once was.
