Ecuador U20 Aiming for Compactness in Debut Match Against Chile
Ecuador’s U20 team prepares for their trip to Colombia for the South American Championship
The Ecuadorian U20 team is preparing to travel to Colombia this Tuesday to participate in the Championship South American of the category. Coach Jimmy Bran has announced Ecuador’s aim is to qualify for the world cup in Indonesia and win the title, like they did four years ago in Chile.
The team wishes to be “compact and united between the lines” and “protagonist and aggressive”, as per Bran. He also stated that the base of the team that will debut against Chile will be the same one that obtained the silver medal during the South American Games last year in Asunción.
The selected team comprises of goalkeepers Ethan Minda, Gilmar Napa, and Tony Jiménez; defenders Davis Bautista, Luis Córdova, Garis Mina, Yeltzin Erique, Daniel de la Cruz, and Orlando Herrera, and Byron Carabali.
The midfielders list is Denil Castillo, Patrik Mercado, Patrickson Delgado, Juan Sánchez, Óscar Zambrano, Sebastian González, and Emerson Pata, while the forwards comprise of Justin Cuero, Alan Minda, José Klinger, Yaimar Medina, Oscar Sosa, and Cristopher Zambrano.
Ecuador’s U20 team will make their debut against Chile next Friday, with Bolivia, Venezuela, and Uruguay set to be the next opponents. If Ecuador can make it through, they will be eligible for the Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia, to be held this year.
