Ewan McGregor, the star of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, has given fans a disappointing update on the show. During a panel at the Gothenburg Film Festival, McGregor mentioned that while he would love to do a second season, there hasn’t been any talk about it yet. He expressed his eagerness to do more of the Disney+ series, but admitted that it doesn’t seem likely at the moment.

The Star Wars franchise is still going strong, with four Star Wars series expected to arrive on the Disney streaming platform in 2024. These include The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, the third season of The Bad Batch, and the second season of The Jedi Chronicles. However, the long-awaited second season of Star Wars: Andor is missing from the calendar. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney has given the green light to new seasons of other Star Wars series and a film sequel to The Mandalorian.

McGregor has been vocal about his desire for a second season, even pitching ideas to director Deborah Chow and insisting that “there are another 10 years with plenty of stories” to tell. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy did not rule out another season and said the company could return to focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi “down the road.”

As the fate of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi remains unknown, fans can look forward to more updates on the acclaimed Star Wars franchise.
