Chile First Time World Championship Contenders Make Winning Start Against New Zealand at Rourkela
On January 14, 2023, Chile made a winning start to their first appearance in a world championship; they emerged victorious against New Zealand in Group C during their opening match at the Rourkela venue.
The New Zealanders took an early lead on the scoreboard with a goal from Lane Sam (m.9). Two minutes later, Hiha Sam got the second, quickly followed by a third in the 18th minute.
The Chilean team closed the gap in the 49th minute, with Ignacio Contardo scoring. Chile will next play their second game on Monday against Malaysia at the Rourkela venue.
