
Cher reveals she visited Tina Turner prior to her death
Cher recently paid a visit to her longtime friend Tina Turner at her home in Switzerland. During the visit, Cher said that Turner was initially skeptical of the visits due to her failing health, but the two still managed to share laughter for hours. Despite keeping a dialysis machine by her side in her final days, Cher noted that Turner remained “so strong” after fighting “this sickness for such a long time.”

Tina Turner passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday after selling more than 100 million records worldwide throughout her legendary career. She won a total of 12 Grammy Awards and scored many hit songs, including “What’s Love Got to Do With It” which was her first and only No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Turner gave her longtime friend Cher a final parting gift, a pair of Tina Turner shoes, during their last visit together.
Friendship with Cher
Cher and Tina Turner’s friendship goes back many decades, beginning when Turner was still in an abusive relationship with ex-husband Ike Turner. Cher reflected on how she was able to see Turner become free when she left that relationship, and noted that Turner never let her hardships stop her. “She wasn’t about to stop. She might not have won every battle, but she fought every war,” Cher said of her late friend.
Tina Turner’s passing
Turner passed away on Wednesday after battling a long illness. Her family announced the news but did not disclose any further details. Her spokesperson later revealed that she died of natural causes. The spokesperson said, “Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
