Celebrities Unite to Support Shakira’s Uplifting Message to Women
Shakira Reveals New Song is an Empowering Message for Women
Shakira made headlines this week when her new single, “Shakira BZRP Music Session #53” made history with its 50 million views in 24 hours on YouTube and 14.4 million plays on Spotify, becoming the biggest Spanish-language single debut ever. To cap off her amazing achievement, Shakira released a powerful message to accompany the song which revealed what drove her to create it.
On January 13, Shakira stated that her song was an “outlet”, and that it was dedicated to women who don’t remain silent in the face of pain. She used the opportunity to recognize the bravery of these women and emphasize the importance of standing up for what is right.
“I want to hug the millions of women who stand up to those who make us feel insignificant. Women who defend what they feel and think, and raise their hands when they disagree, even if others raise their eyebrows. She is my inspiration. And this achievement is not mine but everyone’s. We have to get up 70 times 7. Not as society orders us to, but in the way that occurs to us, the one that helps us to get ahead for our children, our parents, and for those who need us and hope in us,” she stated.
Shakira also thanked the people that helped her make the song, as well as members of the celebrity community who showed her support.
The singer’s empowering message resonated with many, including celebrities such as Dulce María, Lili Stefan, Consuelo Duval, Violeta Isfel, Ana Brenda Contreras, Patricia Manterola, Claudia Lizaldi, and Paulina Goto, among others.
