Cameroon releases squad list for African Cup of Nations qualifiers

Cameroon coach Rigobert Song has unveiled the squad list for the upcoming 3rd and 4th rounds of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The list includes 24 players who will be representing their country in the double confrontation against Namibia on March 23 and 28.

The list features some notable exclusions, including Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Samuel Oum Gouet, Christian Bassogog, Simon Ngapandouetnbu, Olivier Mbaizo, Gaël Ondoua, Marou Souaibou, and Jean-Pierre Nsamé. The last exclusion has come as a surprise to many given that the Young Boys Bern striker is currently the top scorer with 20 goals in all competitions.

However, Cameroon’s offensive line will be well represented by the likes of Vincent Aboubakar, Karl Toko Ekambi and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. Another exciting addition to the squad list is Elliott Njongoue, a 20-year-old hopeful from English club Chelsea.

Cameroon is looking to secure their spot in the African Cup of Nations, and the upcoming matches against Namibia will be crucial for them to do so. With a strong squad and experienced players in their ranks, the indomitable lions will be looking to put on a dominant display and assert their dominance in the tournament.
