CD Projekt, the developer of the popular game Cyberpunk 2077, has issued a warning to PC players ahead of the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion and 2.0 update. The company is urging players to check if their rigs can handle the upcoming changes.
In a statement, Lead Scene Programmer Filip Pierściński emphasized the importance of checking cooling systems. He stated that the game utilizes a significant amount of CPU power, with an expected 90% workload on 8 cores. Pierściński advised players to run a stability test such as Cinebench to ensure their systems can handle the increased demands.
Thermal throttling is a particular concern for CD Projekt, as it could lead to decreased performance or even crashes. By urging players to check their cooling systems, the company hopes to prevent these issues from occurring and provide a smooth gaming experience.
In addition to the warning, CD Projekt updated the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC. The developer announced that the game will now support SSDs for minimum requirements, aiming to provide a more up-to-date experience for players. The updated requirements are optimized for 1080p or 4K resolution.
The release of the Phantom Liberty expansion and 2.0 update will bring significant changes to Cyberpunk 2077, including an overhaul of the base game. As a result, the PC version of the game will become more demanding. It is important for players to ensure that their systems meet the updated requirements to fully enjoy the new content.
The Phantom Liberty expansion and 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 are set to launch on September 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. CD Projekt’s warning serves as a reminder for PC players to prepare their rigs for the upcoming changes to avoid any detrimental effects on gameplay.
