Baldur’s Gate 3, the long-awaited sequel to BioWare’s classic 90s RPGs, was finally confirmed to be released on PC, Mac, GeForce NOW, and PS5 in the latest State of Play. However, fans were disappointed to find that Xbox was not included in the announcement. In a statement to IGN, Larian Studios clarified the situation, saying that an Xbox version is in development but facing technical issues with split-screen co-op on Xbox Series X|S, which is delaying the official announcement.
According to Larian Studios, there is no exclusivity deal preventing an Xbox version. The studio is working hard to fix the technical issues and ensure that the game works the same way on Xbox Series X and S. The trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the latest State of Play showed off the character classes, split-screen multiplayer footage, and revealed the role by JK Simmons as the antagonist General Ketheric Thorm. We also got a look at the Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition of the game.
Larian Studios, best known for creating the incredible Divinity: Original Sin saga, is taking the reins of the Baldur’s Gate franchise. The studio is doing its best to deliver the best possible experience for Xbox players, and hopefully the wait won’t be too long until we get an official announcement.
