In December 2022, the Colombian government, led by President Gustavo Petro, implemented the Shock Plan against Hunger, which included the 500 thousand pesos Bonus as a replacement for the Solidarity Income. This new subsidy seeks to promote food self-sufficiency and support the most vulnerable households in the country.
The 500 thousand pesos Bonus was made available to families living in poverty and extreme poverty, mostly headed by women, as well as mothers with children under 6 years of age, Solidarity Income group A beneficiaries, new Solidarity Income beneficiaries, and Jóvenes en Acción beneficiaries.
The payment of the 500 thousand pesos Bonus began at the beginning of December and the last payment date was December 31, 2022. However, the official announcement on the delivery of the new economic benefit is expected in the near future.
In order to find out if you are a beneficiary of the Solidarity Income, you must visit the National Planning Department (DNP) website (www.sisben.gov.co) and follow the steps listed.
The Solidarity Income program was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a total of 4 million people were helped. The last payment for both banked and unbanked beneficiaries was scheduled for November – December, and those who have not been able to claim their transfers must contact the DPS through their service channels.
The 500 thousand pesos Bonus is part of the Shock Plan against Hunger implemented by the Colombian government to help the most vulnerable households in the country face the economic crisis.
