Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have opened up about their difficult year after their relationship was revealed in 2022. The former “GMA3” co-hosts discussed their experiences in the first episode of their “Amy & T.J.” podcast.
Robach, 50, became emotional as she talked about the fallout from the scandal. She revealed that she had never experienced such dark days before and that she felt like she didn’t want to get up and face the new headlines.
She also shared a terrifying moment when she had to do a “welfare check” on Holmes, 46, after receiving concerning messages from him and ABC producers. Robach was so afraid that she and her father went to Holmes’ apartment to check on him.
Holmes explained that he had been drinking heavily and consuming weed edibles, which led to the state he was in when Robach found him. Despite the difficult times, the couple assured listeners that they are now “happier than ever” and “in love.”
The episode was released on the anniversary of the day the pair were suspended from their jobs. Robach and Holmes were married to Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig at the time, but they denied having an affair and clarified that their previous marriages were over when they became a couple.
The former ABC personalities described themselves as “the folks who lost the jobs [they] love because [they] love each other.” They also emphasized that their relationship is stronger and better as they plan a life together.
The couple’s story is a reminder that difficult times can lead to growth and stronger relationships. If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
