Serbia and Kosovo will meet once again this weekend to negotiate a possible agreement mediated by the European Union. Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia, sat down with Sergio Cantone of Euronews to speak about the upcoming talks. The discussion focused mainly on the Association of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo, which has already been agreed upon but has yet to be implemented. While Kosovo is seeking more sovereignty over their own territory, Serbia is seeking autonomy for the Serb community living in Kosovo. Vučić emphasized the importance of finding compromise solutions for both sides and insisted on true reconciliation. Additionally, he discussed Serbia’s economic growth and investment, and the accusations of ruining regional peace and stability. When asked about making concessions to the Kosovar counterpart on membership to the Council of Europe or the United Nations, Vučić stated that the situation was more about Serbia than China or Russia and stressed the importance of discussing problems properly to find solutions.
