Air added to festival lineup with Kaytranada, Jessie Ware & more

The 31st edition of Sónar in Barcelona is set to take place on June 13, 14, and 15, 2024. The festival, known for its music, creativity, and technology, aims to showcase emerging talents from around the world and push the boundaries of aesthetics. Sónar 2024 will feature a wide range of contemporary electronic music, with artists, DJs, and performers taking the stage.

The initial lineup for the festival includes 70 shows and activities, featuring artists such as Kaytranada, Jessie Ware, Ben Böhmer, Floating Points, Vince Staples, Olof Dreijer of The Knife, and Tommy Cash. Additionally, the festival has announced that the French duo Air will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their iconic album Moon Safari.

Dance will be a major focus of this edition, with choreographic and scenographic performances that push boundaries and break new ground. From the drill and noise of Blackhaine to the national premiere of the “Models” project by Lee Gamble, there will be a wide range of dance performances to experience. The festival will also feature the hakke dances at more than 180 bpm of “The Hakke Show” by Gabber Eleganza, the show “321Rule” by the virtual performance studio Team Rolfes with Lil Mariko on stage, and the show “Physis” by Asiandopeboys, a six-hour multidisciplinary show with surprising visual effects and avant-garde choreography.

In addition to live music and DJ sets, Sónar 2024 will also showcase a variety of creative-technological projects, masterclasses, debate forums, and professional meetings. There will be multi-screen audiovisual conferences by artists and scientists, exploring the innovative uses of AI in music, sound, film, stage design, video games, and alternative realities.

Sónar+D, a multidisciplinary program, will offer audiovisual conferences on nature and technology by artist and architect Tomás Saraceno and marine biologist David Gruber. There will also be debate forums such as the AI & Blockchain Creative Summit, co-organized with UPF Ventures.
