**Colombia: Aecid Director Promotes the Empowerment of Citizens**
The Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Aecid), M.J.B. Piqueras, believes in the value of promoting “empowerment” among Colombians.
Piqueras made a visit to Colombia to sign agreements with the Otraparte initiative, which mainly aims to support rural women.
During the visit, he emphasized that empowering citizens is fundamental to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations (UN).
“Empowering citizens has a positive impact on development and is a major factor in reaching the universal goals established by the UN,” Piqueras said.
The Director of Aecid also noted that access to financial services and better market conditions are essential for the empowerment of women the country.
He explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the cooperation relationship between Aecid and Otraparte.
Piqueras said that the collaboration between Aecid and Otraparte will promote the economic development of rural women, enabling them to access better resources and markets.
Piqueras concluded that the signing of the agreement is an important step in promoting the empowerment of Colombians and helping them overcome inequality and poverty.
