Seven killed, one injured in Two Shootings in Half Moon Bay, California

At least seven people were killed and one injured in two shootings took place in Half Moon Bay, California near San Francisco on Monday night. The suspect, a 67-year-old man, turned himself in to authorities shortly after the attack.

San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus confirmed that four fatalities were found near the Mushroom Farm and three more were found in a nearby area. The eighth victim, a seriously injured person, was taken to an area hospital.

The alleged perpetrator of the attacks, Zhao Chunli, drove to the parking lot of one of the Half Bay sheriff’s offices and was arrested by three police officers. It is believed that he had worked on the farm where the shooting occurred.

The motive of the attack is not yet known, however authorities assured that he acted alone and they found a semi-automatic pistol in his car.

The news of attack was confirmed by U.S. President Joe Biden and California Governor John Newsom, asking Federal Authorities to collaborate in the investigation. The FBI has already confirmed that they are providing forensic and investigative resources.

According to San Mateo County Council President David Pine, gun violence in the US has reached a “unacceptable level” and people must come together to address it.
