The goal of Alaska Commons Media is to keep up with the beat and pulse of Alaska on all issues that affect the state, from the hyper-local to the national and international levels. As our readership has grown, so has the pace. We’re looking into new ways of engaging and working with our audience to make sure nothing can slip through the cracks, but we are doing so with limited resources, a plethora of issues, and a limited amount of time. So, we’re asking you to help.
Our News Tips page will offer people wishing to lend voice to an issue, or notify us of a topic of interest, a course of action. We encourage you to participate, because, if you don’t speak up, there’s a good chance no one will. And we work every day to make sure that doesn’t happen.
For those simply wishing to broaching a topic for us to cover, please simply check the appropriate boxes and add your commentary. Anything you say will be confidential and will never be shared unless you expressly permit it.
If you wish to take up a cause and write about it, please send us a .doc file. The only thing we ask is to back up any arguments with credible sources, with citations. Let us know where you wish the links to those sources should be inserted by putting them in bold print with a number assigned at the bottom of the page. As an example,
Alaska legalized marijuana following the passage of the 2014 general election. Local communities are afforded the right to opt out of retail stores and cultivation centers.
Whether you wish to contribute an article or tip us off to something we might not be aware of, your input is not only valued, it’s what Alaska Commons is about. We look forward to hearing from you, and hope this will increase our availability and ability to cover the issues that matter to you.
