I do believe I got the vapors.

Rob Riggle to play Frank West in Dead Rising Film Adaptation

Dear Rising has found its war time journalist.

Former wartime journalist for The Daily Show, Rob Riggle will play wartime photo journalist Frank West in Dead Rising: Watchtower. This is perfect casting because, you know, they both covered wars.

Along with Riggle, Dead Rising will star Epic Meal Time host Harley Morenstein and Aleks Paunovic, Keegan Connor, Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Virginia Madsen and Dennis Haysbert.

The film will be about a zombie apocalypse, but doesn’t seem like it will be a retelling of the first game of West stuck inside a Mall.

From Mortal Kombat: Legacy producer and writer of Sleeping Dogs, Tim Carter, Dead Rising: Watchtower will début on Crackle, Sony’s streaming video service. DVD, Blu-Ray, Video on Demand and Digital release will follow at a later time.

Paul Rubins says that a new Pee-Wee Herman Announcements is Days Away

The on again, off again, new Pee-Wee Herman film has been in the works it seems like forever, but every so often Paul Rubins gives a little update on the project. Talking to Rolling Stone this week about the upcoming Pee-Wee’s Playhouse on Blu-Ray, Rubin’s updated fans on the future of the franchise and said we should expect something sooner rather than later.

“There’s going to be a big announcement any minute now. Yes. It’s been months and months of being right on the verge of being announced.”

Is it a secret word? Does someone have to say the secret word for the announcement to happen?

Hasbro Announces My Little Pony is Getting it’s Own Film

Hasbro has announced the second film under their new production house, Allspark Pictures, and it’s going to be My Little Pony.

Created last year, Allspark Pictures was set up as a new way of creating new projects centered around their toy lines, but having more creative control. The first film under the new banner will be a live action adaptation of Jem and the Holograms.

My Little Pony will be written by Joe Ballarini and Megan McCarthy, but no release date was announced or what format it will be released in. I’m pretty sure the safe bet is that this will be animated.

McCarthy is no stranger to the franchise as serving as producer and writer for the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and the straight-to-video My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.

Why Wasn’t Sandman part of DC’s Announcements?

Last week, Warner Bros. and DC Comics dropped a megaton of news regarding the future of their films’ plans going into 2020. Suspiciously, I brought up that Justice League Dark and Sandman were both absent from the reveal and wondered if they had been pushed way back.

Sandman creator Neil Gaiman was asked on his official Tumbr account about the lack of Sandman news and Gaiman revealed the reasoning behind it.

“It’s not a DC Comics film. It’s a Vertigo film. That’s a different slate of films, and a different announcement.”

So this answers some questions but brings up some new ones.

With it being part of a “Vertigo” film slate, I assume that Sandman will be handed as its own separate project and not tie into the greater DC Universe. Also, if Justice League Dark is still on the table, members Madam Xanadu, Constantine, and Swamp Thing have history with the Vertigo line and if that’s indeed the case, is this Dark film also going to be separate?

Also, “slate of films?” Does this mean that Warner Bros. is looking to do films based on other Vertigo projects? We already have Constantine, Preacher, and Federal Bureau of Physics coming soon to TV, but will we see more on the way? The long rumored Y: The Last Man or Fables maybe?

This also ties into DC looking to revamp Vertigo with several vertigo series ending next year including Fables, Fairest, Sandman (if it’s on time), and several mini-series.

Disney’s Moana announced, coming 2016

Walt Disney Animation Studio has unveiled it’s new project, Moana, for a late 2016 release.

Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the team behind Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, Moana will take place in the ancient South Pacific and follows the adventures of a young woman named Moana.

Described by Musker, Moana is “indomitable, passionate and a dreamer with a unique connection to the ocean itself” and the story will center around her, as she joins forces with a demigod and travel the wide and unconquered ocean.

Only a piece of art was shown to give a small glimpse into the world of Moana, but I’m getting a strong Legend of Zelda; The Wind Waker vibe from it. Hearing the synopsis, I want to see more.

No canceled books this month! Also, January will bring the return of Damien Wayne in Batman and Robin with #38. What will they do with him? Who knows.

I am super jazzed, though, that DC is finally reprinting Gail Simone’s Secret Six in bigger editions. If you’ve never checked out Secret Six, it’s a must. To me, I’ve never read a team book better.

Lots of really cool new stuff including a new volume of Casanova from Matt Fraction, Micheal Chabon, and Fabio Moon and a original graphic novel, Henshin, from writer/artist Ken Niimura.

One of my favorite comics ever was Joe Kelly and Ken Niimura’s I Kill Giants and it’s been awhile since Niimura has created anything. Henshin is defiantly on my must read list

Nintendo has announced another game that will be compatible with their upcoming line of figures called amiibos.

The Amiibo for Link was revealed through Nintendo of America’s twitter. It will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors. In what capacity is unknown, as Nintendo said to “stay tuned.”

Along with Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad, and Super Smash Bros., amiibos, like Skylander figures, will interact with players depending on the game and situation.

With Link’s figure working in Hyrule Warriors, I wonder if other Zelda character figures are soon to come.

Atlus USA may be localizing Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind for the Nintendo 3DS with a rating released this week by the Australian Classification Board.

Based on the popular manga and anime, Attack on Titan is set in a world were giant human-like creatures have decimated humanity to near extinction.

Chun Sunsoft is putting out a re-release of the 3DS version in Japan with online functionality and there’s a pretty good chance that will be the version that will be coming to America.
