Big Hero 6 Trailer and Voice Cast Revealed
Walt Disney Pictures has released not only the first full trailer for their upcoming animated film Big Hero 6, but have also announced its voice cast.
A young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamata, and his robot Baymax, uncover a villainous plot and put together a team of inexperienced heroes to save the day. Big Hero 6 will star Ryan Potter, T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Scott Adsit, Génesis Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, Daniel Henney, and Alan Tudyk.
Screenrant.com has put together a nice character bio for each team member except for Génesis Rodríguez’s character, Honey Lemon. Disney hasn’t provided much info for that character yet.
It’s odd that, being a Marvel comics property, the Marvel logo isn’t seen anywhere in the advertising. But then again, Big Hero 6 was last published in the early 2000’s. Everything looks fine — even if Honey Lemon in her costume looks just like Rapunzel. Walt Disney’s animated division has been doing a great job over the last couple of years with Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled, so lets see if they keep the ball rolling.
Big Hero 6 hits theaters November 7, 2014.
New Dragonball Z Film announced from series creator
Image from anifilereviews.com
Hot on the heels of the English release of Dragonball Z: War of the Gods, series creator Akira Toriyama announced that a new Dragonball Z film will be released next year during Japan’s Golden Week.
Talking with V Jump Magazine, Toriyama confirmed that, like Battle of the Gods, it will be both a new story and a continuation of the original manga. Toriyama also expressed “fussing over the smallest dialogue lines,” putting a lot of effort into art, and his confidence that fans will be able to thoroughly enjoy the movie.
Golden Week is late April to early May so it’s still a ways off, but after hearing all the good news around War of the Gods, I wonder what Toriyama is going to do with this.
Power Rangers Film gets X-Men First Class Writers
Image from Wired.com
A couple months ago, Lionsgate announced plans for a big budget relaunch for a new Power Rangers film but that was about it. This week, the project got some legs when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been attached to write. Roberto Orci is also attached to help craft the story.
Miller and Stentz previously worked on Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and Orci has worked on The Transformers, Star Trek and Spider-Man franchises.
I’m wondering how involved Orci really is with this project. With him directing Star Trek 3, I almost wonder if he’s inline to also direct Power Rangers in the future.
New fantasy thriller from Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple based off the novel of the same name from Joe Hill. I love Hill’s Locke and Key and have read this but trailer looks really fun.
Doctor Who Full Season trailer
“I’m the Doctor. I’ve lived for over 2000 years. I’ve made many mistakes; it’s about time I did something about that.”

Last weekend in Las Vegas was Evo 2014 championship series. Evo is the largest and longest running Fighting game tournament in the world seeing the best players from every country prove that they are number one in their respective games. This year highlighted Ultra Street Fighter 4, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Blazblue and more.
Destructoid.com has listed the top 8 of the big games shown off at Evo while Youtuber and Killer Instinct announcer Maximilian Dood made a video about his top five moments at Evo.
As a big fighting fan, I was glued all weekend and even got none fighting game fans interested because of the high caliber of play. I can’t wait for next year.
Tekken 7 Announced
A big announcement at Evo was the reveal of Tekken 7 by producer Katsuhiro Harada at Namco Bandai. The strange thing about the trailer are the words “Final Battle”.
Is this the end of the franchise or the end of the current stories that they’ve been doing? What we do know is that Tekken 7 will run on the Unreal Engine 4, the first fighting game to run on the engine.
New Super Smash Bros. Characters Announced
Monday, Nintendo reveled three new fighters for the upcoming entree into Nintendo’s fighting series.
Long time fan favorite, Captain Falcon of F-Zero fame will return — which was expected since he’s appeared in every game since the first N64 version.
New to the scene are Fire Emblem characters Lucina and Robin, who will be joining classic characters Ike and Marth to bring the Fire Emblem cast count to four. Players can also play as the female version of Robin as an alternate character swap with her own dialogue.
Big news will also being coming soon as Japanese magazine Corocoro announced that in their next issue, the entire cast of the new Smash Bros. game will be revealed along with all the stages in the 3DS version.
Things are about to get serious.
New Thor announced for new series
Image from Nerdist.com
On The View, Marvel comics announced that a new weilder of Mjolnir is on the horizon.
Proving himself unworthy, Thor is stripped of his godly powers and a new wielder is found in the hands of a mysterious woman. Whoever she is, Marvel has gone on record saying that she isn’t a preexisting character.
The upcoming story will launch in October with a new number one by Thor: God of Thunder writer Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman.
“This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.” said Aaron. Marvel editor Wil Moss also insists that this “isn’t a temporary female substitute” and that “she’s now the one and only Thor.”
Even though Thor has lost the hammer before, I dig this change. Aaron has been killing it recently on Thor: God of Thunder and whatever he’s got in store, I’m game.
New Captain America announced on The Colbert Report
Image from Buzzfeed.com
On The Colbert Report Wednesday night, Steven Colbert and Marvel’s Joe Quesada announced that The Falcon, Sam Wilson will be taking over the mantel of Captain America.
With Wilson taking over the roll, All-New Captain America, will debut this fall from current Captain America scribe Rick Remender and artist Stuart Immonen.
With news just coming out, there isnt a whole lot of information available, but this does raise questions about the Marvel film verse. With the introduction of The Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I’m wondering if Wilson will play a bigger role in future films. Chris Evans, the current Captain America, has stated that when his contract is up, he was going to take a break from acting. I assumed that with the introduction of The Winter Soldier that actor Sebastian Stan was going to take the mantel but I could be wrong. Anthony Mackie, who played Wilson, did a great job as The Falcon and has shown outside of his role that he is a pretty great role model.
Comics are pretty exciting right now.
New Batgirl Creative team, costume
Image from MTV.com
Longtime Batgirl writer Gail Simone revealed this week that with Septembers issue she will be leaving work on a “super secret project,” in her words. With that, the new creative team will be Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcheron on writing duties and Babs Tarr taking over artwork.
With a new creative team brings a new costume and a new brighter focus.
Described by Fletcher as “[mixing] the best elements of ‘Veronica Mars’ and ‘Girls,’ with a dash of ‘Sherlock’ thrown in for good measure,” “We really wanted to make this a book with a light tone, of fun and adventure and mystery, and let the rest of the Bat-family deal with the darkness,” Stewart told MTV.
She’s got problems, and conflict, and enemies to fight, but our priority was to make this a really fun, rollicking read… Batgirl is a terrific character, she’s not motivated by tragedy or revenge, she’s fights for justice because she believes it’s the right thing to do. She’s whip-smart, kick-ass in a fight, and there’s a sense of fun and excitement around her that I think has made her an enduring character. We intend to showcase all of these qualities in a manner that we think hasn’t yet been seen in her title.
I’m in love with the new look and it’ll be nice to see a book in the DCU that isn’t all dark 24/7. Also, what is this super secret project that Simone is secretly working on?
Weird Al reveals new music video everyday
Last week, musician “Weird Al” Yankovic released his newest album “Mandatory Fun.” But that wasn’t the only thing he had in store.
Yankovic announced the #8videos8days project. Starting Monday, Yankovic will reveal a new music video based on a song from his new album.
Monday was “Tacky,” a parody of Pharrell’s “Happy,” which was exclusive to Nerdist.com. Tuesday was “Word Crimes,” a parody of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” on Vevo. Wednesday was “Foil,” parody of Lorde’s “Royal,” an exclusive to Collegehumor.com. And Thursday was “Handy,” parody of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” on Yahoo’s Sketchy channel.
I can’t wait to see the video for “Inactive.”
