Every week I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.

Sophie is an energetic fun loving girl. She just celebrated her first birthday Jan. 4th! She requires someone who will take her on walks daily. A fenced yard where she would have a safe place to run around. She settles down in the house nicely. She gets excited sometimes and runs around so a home with kids over 10 would be good. She does great with cats and other dogs. She would love to have another dog that likes to play. She needs someone willing to continue her training. She knows sit. We are working on down and walking on a leash. She won’t go potty in the house as long as you take her out every couple hours. Sophie is a really sweet girl and will be a great companion with the right family.

When you think of Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center, do you think of lizards? Well, you should! Today we have Flynn, an adult, female, Gecko. This cute little gal is about 3-4 inches long with beautiful markings. Geckos can live up to 20 years and are one of the most popular lizards to own as a pet. Lizards have very specific needs, including where they are kept, lighting provided to them, and what they are fed. Like all pets, it’s important to learn about the needs and care involved BEFORE bringing a pet home. Flynn can be adopted for $15 and would do best in a home with reptile experience.
Flynn is so cool! Learn how to take this reptile home HERE.
This is Liberty and she is still in search of her forever home. She is a sweet, young adult spayed female. She is affectionate and enjoys sitting in your lap. Her adoption fee is $25 with an approved application.
Everybody loves Liberty. Learn more about her HERE.
The shelter has a litter of 4 week old rats available for adoption! We encourage potential adopters to research rat husbandry and consider adopting a pair as they are very social and do better in like sex pairs. Adoption fee is $5.00, please stop by the shelter and check them out!
