Last Thursday night the Rage City Rollergirls held their last preseason fundraiser before their first bout of the 6th season, which starts October 26. The event, titled Black Eye and Tie, was held at the Bayshore Clubhouse, drawing over 100 attendees and raising around 5500 dollars for the non profit sports organization.
While the weather outside was a bit dreadful, the atmosphere inside was warm and friendly. It was fun to see the Rollergirls step out of their usual get up of knee pads, skates, and helmets and into fancy dresses and masks. The fundraising activities centered around several silent auction tables, each one closing at a different time throughout the festivities.

While attendees perused three tables of goods, the band Boogie Shoes provided background music for people to dance along to. SteamDot Coffee was there to provide warm beverages, there was a well stocked buffet table, and a “donations appreciated” wet bar in the back.

If you missed out this year, don’t worry, it’s been an annual event for the last 6 years, so there’s always next year. In the meantime, check out the rest of our images, and don’t forget to mark the first regular season bout, titled Monster Mash, on the 26th. Doors open at 6 pm, skates hit the floor at 7 pm, and Alaska Commons will be there cameras in hand to capture all the pushing and shoving as the girls try to prove their standing in the WFTDA rankings.
