Hailing from Tennessee and just finishing up a round of tour dates with Built to Spill, Bobby Bare Jr. visited UAF this past weekend for a performance at the Wood Center Pub. On Saturday September 21, the band played with Anchorage openers Jack River Kings and blew away any conception of what the crowd thought they were going to hear.

Bobby Bare Jr., comprised of simply a drummer, keyboardist and Bare himself on guitar and vocals, created music that spanned every genre from rock to southern blues to down-and-out sad ballads.
While Bare crooned, swooned and got personal with the crowd, the highlight was watching Matt Rowland absolutely slay on the keys. Utilizing an old Leslie organ and two Moog keyboards, Rowland played with a fury as though he was summoning the devil himself from directly below the Pub’s stage.
