Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.

Oso
Oso

Oh, these boys. I first saw a picture of these two in a Craigslist ad. Someone saw them and put out a heartfelt plea that they would get adopted. That’s what we try to do here, so I’m happy to second and third that motion. “These two guys are happy, super friendly, playful and smart. Their former owners are giving them up due to a divorce. They are longtime pals and should be adopted together. Oso is 3 years old and would enjoy doing agility. Theo is two and a half and is the bouncier of the two. They both enjoy “fetch”, running, lots of exercise and playtime. They can easily entertain each other when not entertaining you. A wonderful “instant family” for an active home!” Do yourself a favor and bring Oso and Theo home.

Colonel Whiskers
Colonel Whiskers

This is Colonel Whiskers. “Whiskers is a nervous boy, he takes a while to adjust to change.  We feel he will come around in a home environment. So The Colonel is looking for a place with someone who will be patient & work with him. He loves a scratching box with a tiny bit of cat nip on it & is using his litter box. He  likes to be scratched and petted but does not like to be held. We do not recommend children for the Colonel.” Colonel Whiskers likes to run a tight and predictable operation. First, I would like to thank whomever took this photo, because that’s exactly the kind of way to show off this little guy’s personality. He will lovingly destroy your elbow if you ignore him for Facebook. That’s the way it should be. “This little guy is overflowing with personality. He has been fostered in homes with small children, other cats and lots of dogs. This little kitten is already so well socialized and well adjusted…..and he’s got the cutest little 3/4 length tail with a hook right at the end!” Click here to find out how to let Jan help you with your productivity issue.

Barney
Barney

Barney came in from the village of Galena, one of the many families that is having problems returning to a village with no home or trying to rebuild. So they have been unable to care for him and he needs a new family. He is a nice dog, with a good personality, gets along with other dogs and is good with children. Click here to find out how to bring Barney home. He won’t mind if you think he’s funny looking.

Moose
Moose

Sometimes, an animal’s genetics are enough to endear him to you forever. This is Moose. He is a husky/pit bull terrier. And boy does he look like it. There’s no description available for Moose, but I’m sure he’d be very eager to make up for his front-heaviness with lots of lap cuddles. Click here to find out how to make those lap cuddles a reality.
