Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.
Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center
GOOD NEWS! The Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center is offering a discount on cat adoptions, now through Sunday, August 18!

Last summer AACCC held a discounted cat adoption event, which was a huge success! We’re hoping to repeat that success with The Price is Right Discounted Cat Adoption Event! This Wednesday through Sunday, adopters can spin the discount price wheel to determine whether their new cat will be adopted for $10, $15, or $20. All amounts are a discount off normal adoption fees, so EVERYONE is a WINNER!
Saturday, August 17, is also National Homeless Animals Day. What better way to celebrate than to get lots of homeless cats into new homes! The discount will apply to all adult cats available for adoption Wednesday through Sunday. Adult cats are all cats ages one year and older. We would like to thank our partner, Friends of Pets, for covering the cost of all spay and neuter surgeries for cats adopted during the event. All cat adoptions include, as always, spay or neuter, vaccinations, and microchip.
AACCC volunteers have put together giveaways for those coming in to adopt as well! The Center will be open our usual hours, 11:00am-7:00pm, Wednesday through Friday, and 10:00am-6:00pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Now, onto the furry buddies looking for homes…
Pailey Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center
Please meet Pailey, an adult, spayed female, domestic longhair mix cat. Pailey is a dear sweet kitty who has had a rough go of life so far. Although she doesn’t let it cramp her style, or her sweet personality, she has a deformed ear due to a past infection that was not treated. Pailey enjoys being brushed and receiving love and attention from her people. She is very loving, gentle and demure, though a serious head bumper. This girl is all about laps and snuggles! If you are a very special adopter looking for a forever friend that will be eternally grateful for some love and medical care, please come in and meet Pailey! Click here to find out how to bring Pailey home.
Friends of Pets (Anchorage)

Shelby
Shelby

Small pets go great with small spaces. SHELBY is still waiting to be adopted. If it’s rainy- no need for a walk. If it’s cold-no need for a walk! Even sunny- no need for a walk Shelby is a Rex Cross and is waiting to delight you. Will you give him that chance? He’s soft and silky. Click here to help him find his home-sweet-home.
Clear Creek Cat Rescue (Talkeetna)
Shreik
Shreik

Shreik is a spunky adorable 5 months old boy. He has a short haired coat in black and white. With the little dab of white on his nose, he has his own special tuxedo pattern. Shreik is a joyful fun kitty with LOTS of energy to expend in classic kitten fashion, racing, romping, leaping, twirling, flying through the air after a dragonfly. Whew! It’s very tiring. So after a day of all his kittenish activities, he is ready to curl up in a lap and be the cutest, most docile purring snuggy bug you could dream of. He is great with other fun cats and fine with nice dogs. He will even let kids tote him around. He’s a great little guy ready to bond with his new family and be with them forever. Click here to find out how to bring him home, forever.
Homer Animal Shelter
Diesel Homer Animal ShelterDiesel would like to hear all about your day… And then he would like his teeth brushed. Really. This senior Malamute has very nice ‘house manners’, and has been loved. Friendly and mellow, Diesel will talk to you, push up against your leg, and just be there through thick and thin. Click here to find out how to help Diesel be the one to motivate you.
