Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.
Alaskan Animal Rescue Friends (AARF)

Jessie
Jessie

Jessie was a rescue from a trailer park along with her kittens. Babies long gone, she has been living in foster with about 10 other cats and a German Shepherd. She is very sweet, will sit on your lap at times and sometimes cuddle. Likes to lay on the bed near you. Obviously not knowing in the past when and where her next meal was going to come from, she will lead you to her food dish in the morning, talking along the way. Won’t someone want this adorable, unique colored waif as their very own? Click here to find out how to bring this adorable little waif home.

Charlie
Charlie

Please meet Charlie, an 11 year old, neutered male, shih tzu mix. This sweet little guy is happy, easy-going and gentle. He loves people, likes sitting in your lap, and will sit nicely for his treats and take them gently. He walks easy on his leash and does great with the other shelter dogs in Play Group, though he seems to prefer people to dogs. Give this guy a lap to crawl in and some snuggles and he is one happy boy! Attentive, friendly and very loving. Very personable companion! Click here to find out how to bring Charlie home.

Sam
Sam

This is the face of a discerning cat. Sam is wise, oh so wise… He knows when to duck inside his hidey hole, wait things out. When to come out for a fishy treat! This three year old orange and white tabby is gentle and a tad bit shy, but very loving and playful when you get to know him. A great all around family cat. Zima
Zima

Look at this happy dog! This is Zima. Now, before you go holding her name against her, remember what Zima stood for: “Zomething different.” Also, interestingly enough, it means “winter” in slavic. Okay, forget about the old Zima. This is the new Zima. She looks like a cool dog who probably enjoys walks, judging from the photo. Click here to find out how to go on long satisfying doggie walks with Zima.

Maisy
Maisy

This is Maisy. Look at those eyes: she wants you. More specifically, she wants your love and attention and belly rubs. Don’t deny Maisy, lest she become sad and dejected. Maisy deserves happiness. And belly rubs. Click here to find out how to make Maisy’s wishes come true.
