Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.

Flower
Flower

Flower is a short-haired mackerel tabby female with deep brown markings. She’s a bit quirky but loves to be petted and likes to sit on your lap. She gets along well with other cats. She isn’t keen on being chased or picked up. To learn more, contact Trish at 357-3560 or ACAT at 982-2228. Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.

Mimi
Mimi

Conversationalist seeks listeners! Miss Mimi LOVES to talk. She’ll greet you when you let her out of the kennel, and will “roo roo roo” at you while she’s running around outside. It really is ridiculously cute.
She is an ADPR alumni, recently returned because her family had to move into a rental where, unfortunately, pets aren’t allowed. Miss Mimi is a very sweet girl. She enjoys snuggling up to people, or playing fetch. She has a lot of energy, so an active family would be great for her. Mimi has been house trained, and kennel trained. She knows all her basic commands (sit, down, etc.), and may even know a couple tricks. We’re still trying to figure that out.
Kids aren’t a problem for her, although no young child should ever be left alone with a dog. She doesn’t seem to be too keen on other dogs, but it may just be that she needs a few days to adjust. I don’t know how she’d do with cats. All in all, Miss Mimi is a really cool little gal. If you’d like to foster her, e-mail Rachel at fosterfinder4adpr@hotmail.com. Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s profile on the Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue page.

Candy and Maggie
Candy and Maggie

We have an adorable pair for you today! Candy and Maggie are longtime friends, both 5 years old and already spayed. Both are very active, happy and outgoing. They are very close and would like to be adopted together. They’re both eager to please, know commands, and have lived happily with kids. Kennel-trained, ride fine in the car, and like balls and rope toys. They both did very well in Shelter Dog Play Group with the other dogs. Attentive and affectionate pals, who can easily entertain each other when not entertaining you! They can be adopted for $114 for the pair, which includes both of their MOA dog licenses, vaccinations, and microchips. Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s profile on the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center page.
BONUS!
Helen
Helen

Alert, attentive, gentle and very sweet, Helen was found as a stray. She looks to be under a year old. Friendly, with a pleasant, good-natured disposition, and lots of love to share! Weighs just 17 pounds. Super cute little girl! Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.

Henna
Henna

Henna is a beautiful Bengal mix girl needing a great new home. She is very sweet and likes attention. Very outgoing and inquisitive in her surroundings. She has all the gorgeous Bengal markings, and the great personality typical of these cats. Henna really needs a home that is prepared for a Bengal as they are not your average housecats. Please read up on the breed or have breed experience.
We are requiring a home that can let her outside to hunt. Not an outside home, just one with access to the outside. Henna is fine with other cats and has done well with her foster homes dogs. She would be ok with older children. Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.

Ruger
Ruger

This is Ruger. “I am a neutered male, black and white Domestic Longhair. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years old.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page. Do you know of an animal shelter that should be featured here?
Do you work at a shelter and want to get the word out about an adoptable pet or adoption clinic? Send an email to info (at) alaskacommons (dot) com. I’ll read it, I promise.
