It’s mid-May in Anchorage, which means it’s time to get ready for Bike to Work Day. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, this is an event aimed at getting more commuters out of their cars and onto their bikes. The goal, as stated by the Municipality of Anchorage Alaska Proclamation, is to benefit “tourism, the local economy, and the environment.” Oh, also obesity prevention and healthy living in general.
If you’re out on your bike on Friday morning, keep an eye out for these snack and beverage stations, organized by the Bicycle Commuters of Anchorage and set up all over town. And if you’re driving on Friday morning, please keep an eye out for your fellow two-wheeled commuters.
Last year, we got a bit excited about Bike to Work Day and made a little video to celebrate. Please enjoy.
