Take Me Home Tonight: Adoptable Pets from Alaska Shelters

Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.
Do you know of an animal shelter that should be featured here? Do you work at a shelter and want to get the word out about an adoptable pet or adoption clinic? Send an email to info (at) alaskacommons (dot) com. I’ll read it, I promise.

Mystic Alaska Animal Rescue Friends AARF
A special note about this pretty lady: “Mystic is a female husky that is also one of the many rescued from the hoarding situation. She was crammed in a dog kennel with way too many other dogs and a foot of muck. The group she was with has received little to no socialization in their previous life. Mystic is very social with other dogs and has made great progress in her socialization. She has the potential to be a great dog, she just needs somebody that understands this could take a little while. Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Pet Pride – Fairbanks
Handsome Pet Pride Fairbanks
“Handsome came in with another cat named Eve. They were given up because their owner was tired of hair in her house…so the poor cats were brought to us. They are amazing cats. Great with kids and other pets. Very loving and ready for a new forever home. We want to try to place them together because they are so close to each other. They are litter mates.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.

Happy Ending
Do yourself a favor and watch this video or read the full story over at KTUU. This poor pup was being beaten by her owner in Bethel when two pilots at Yute Air stepped in to save her. After realizing she was injured, they brought her to Anchorage, where she was able to get casts on her two broken back legs at the VCA Alpine Animal Hospital. Her rescuers, Derick Broderman and Jaimie Rault, plan to adopt “Scotch” and bring her back to Bethel when she’s healed up.
For information on how you can donate to help with the costs of Scotch’s hospital bills you can visit the Yute Air station’s Facebook page.
