Take Me Home Tonight: Adoptable Pets from Alaska Shelters

Every week, I’m going to feature adoptable pets and events surrounding pet adoption from across Alaska. To the best of my knowledge, each of these pets are still available, and I encourage you to follow the links to find out more about these animals and the shelters that are caring for them.
Do you know of an animal shelter that should be featured here? Do you work at a shelter and want to get the word out about an adoptable pet or adoption clinic? Send an email to info (at) alaskacommons (dot) com. I’ll read it, I promise.
Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue
Chopper Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue
“Chopper is as sweet a dog as you could ask for. He’s a perfect four-legged gentleman! We’re still learning about him, but so far we know that he’s good with kids and other dogs, and knows his basic commands. If you’d like to meet Chopper, call Kristine at (907) 345-9476.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Anchorage Animal Care & Control
Cowboy Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center
“Easy-going and very good-natured, Cowboy enjoys having pets and attention. He loves napping in a cozy spot and purrs for you when you rub his tummy. Found as a stray, Cowboy is now waiting for his real forever home. Super sweet and exceptionally loveable! Excellent—and good-sized—lap cat! Weighs 13 lbs. Friends of Pets – Anchorage has generously donated the cost of Cowboy’s neutered surgery! He can now be adopted for $62, which includes his vaccinations and microchip.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Princess Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center
“We’re going to feature Princess again, because we have no idea why she hasn’t been scooped up yet! Plus, she wanted to send everyone a little early Easter cheer! Who needs the Cadbury Bunny when you could have Princess!
Here is Princess, a 6 year old, spayed female, husky mix. Friendly, affectionate and playful, Princess is shy at first meeting, but warms up fast with quiet, gentle handling. She’s attentive and responsive, walks politely on her leash, and enjoys sitting at your side for petting and attention. Has lived with kids 4 to 11, and with a cat, and did great with all. She’s been to obedience classes, knows commands, and wants to please. Beautiful girl with soft, fluffy fur and a happy smile! Great family pooch! Princess can be adopted for $72, as she is already spayed, which includes her MOA dog license, vaccinations, and microchip.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Clear Creek Cat Rescue
Celeste Clear Creek Cat Rescue
“Celeste is a fabulous little 4yr old girl that is in need of a great new home. She is good with other cats and is good with dogs and kids. Celeste is a playful little girl and loves lazer lights and fuzzy mice. She is affectionate but not overwhelming in the least. The perfect cat for someone that wants a cat but doesn’t want a pushy one. She would love to find a home with a safe place for her to venture outdoors in the summers and maybe with a kitty friend. If you are interested in Celeste please give us a call!!!” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Haines Animal Rescue Kennel
Molly Haines Animal Rescue and Kennel
“Molly is sweet old black lab. She’d love to sit by your feet next to the fire. She is still a happy/waggy lab though her age prevents her from enjoying a fully active life. She’s looking for a mellow home with a life of car rides, dog treats and naps.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
Loving Companions Animal Rescue Inc.
Sly Loving Companions Animal Rescue Inc
“Sly was turned in originally by a man that had found her on the road, and she was starved, to the point that she could not walk. She was fostered by one of our volunteers that fell in love with her, but because this lady works so many hours she does not have enough time to watch her and it has become a problem. Sly eats things that she should not eat and has had to have surgery for possible stomach blockage. Sly needs a family with another dog to keep Sly company and a family that has time to spend with her and keep her occupied. She is good with kids, dogs and cats and has a good temperament. If you would like to meet Sly, please call Animal House Vet Clinic at 479-2800, Ext 100 and ask for Noelle.” Click HERE to go directly to this pet’s Petfinder page.
